Halloween Part 2 and Huber Farm

At ward trunk or treat Austin found his female counterpart Marin who had the same costume. Sooo cute! Trunk or treat was fun and Austin learned the art of taking candy from people and putting it into his pumpkin.
Just as trunk or treat was ending it started pouring and so we quickly buckled Austin into his carseat with his costume on. I looked back at him and this is what I saw. You could barely see his eyes over his "fatsuit". Hans and I were busting up laughing.
The town we live in has an annual trick or treat party for the kids during the daytime on Halloween. This is a picture of the Jeffersontown courthouse. So many memories of all the festivals we have attended here.

Austin and daddy going to get some treats.

Austin's favorite part...getting the candy!

After the Jeffersontown festival we headed to Toys R Us because they had trick or treating for the kids and had a parade. Then of course we had to check out all the toys......

We went trick or treating with the Cluffs this year but we had to end it early. Austin thought it was a good idea to run into people's houses when they opened the door and then he would run into their backyards. Oh my active little guy! Maybe we will have better luck next year!

This past weekend we went to Huber Farm with our friends the Mills. we have gone once before to get a pumpkin but we thought we should take advantage of the 70 degree weather in November and spend the day outside. The kiddos loved it! Here is Austin on a cement duck he thought was pretty neat.

After a LONG (and ever changing) explanation of how much everything cost at the farm we decided to take a wagonride to see the animals and to go through the corn maze. Here we all are on the wagonride around the farm.

Austin and daddy walking through the cornmaze. Notice the shorts and T-shirt Hans is wearing in November!

Here is our guide Felix with our precious children. Look how happy they are to be on his lap.

Austin loved to feed the animals. He would giggle everytime they ate the corn out of his hands.

I thought this was a cool shot. This is Austin and daddy going down the tube slide from the hay loft. We had a great time at the farm enjoying the beautiful weather.

Halloween Part 1

I love Halloween this year. Okay, I really have always loved Halloween but this year I have embraced it with open arms. I think all the excitement started with finding the cutest costume for Austin. He is a monster. People think he might be a bug, alien or a frog but he will growl at you to let you know that he is a monster. This first picture is at storytime with Dominic and Bethany the Penguins, Ella the Bee, Reagan as Tinkerbell and Austin the Monster. Let's just say storytime with 20 1 year olds can get a bit hectic but it really was fun!
Here is Austin taking a snack break from all the chaos.

After storytime they get to play with the toys and make a craft (or eat the craft).

This year my friend Heather and I planned an "adult only!" Halloween party. It is not very often we get to hang out with just the adults and have a really good time. Heather and I had so much fun making the decorations for the party. This picture is hard to see but there is a zombie in the window. Heather traced me on cardboard....I have not been traced since Elementary School and it made me giggle.

Here is a ghost we made. The funny part was trying to attach the ghosts to the ceiling. You did a good job Heather (and it only took you 4 hours) lol

Notice the "bleeding" candles we made. Spooky right?

The flaming cauldron.

Hans has been wanting to be Buddy the Elf for like three years now and we finally caved and bought him the costume. He studied up on some Elf quotes and stayed in character all night. He was funny. I am just a pioneer working the plains.

Hans and Jared. Classic

The group. I think I might need to plan a Halloween party every year. Nothing better than dressing up, acting silly and having fun.

The zoo here has something called Boo at the Zoo where they decorate the whole zoo into themes like Shrek, Disney Princess, Finding Nemo ect and the kiddos get to Trick or Treat. We had a great time and Austin LOVED it. He has now also discovered the beauty of candy (much to my dismay). Here is daddy and Austin with the talking pumpkin.

Mommy and Austin with the Shrek characters. I think Austi looks a little like Shrek.

Austin found a peacock to chase and that is why the smile in this picture.

We got Austin's pictures done at the Picture People this year to send out with our cards. What a cutie. We still can't wait to do church trunk or treat tomorrow and real trick or treating on Saturday!

Austin and Company

I have to start out by saying how nice it is to live in a place where there are so many kids Austin's age. He is so many friends to play with! There is something therapeutic for the mommas aswell by talking (venting) about what the kiddos are doing ect. I have loved living in Louiville with so many great friends! This first pic is at the Dicksons with Austin's first encounter with a fire pit...let's just say that it is hard to explain to a one year old why he cannot play with the neat flamey thing :-)

Austin's frriends, Dayna, Dax Kaeson (only 4 days younger than Austin) and Parker. Oh yeah our friends are there too. Do we count anymore??

We have loved going to the zoo with many friends this summer. This is my friend's little boy Brock and Austin making music in the park. They were so cute!

Brock and Austin flying high in the swings.

This is one of Austin's girlfriends, Addie. This was her 1st birthday party.

The dental student wives (and Jeff!) with their babies.

We were able to take swimming lessons with Addie and Matthew this August. It was so much fun! Austin liked most of it, except the part where he had to wait on the side of the pool to jump in.....let's just say that my little man lacks some patience

Fun Weekend

We had a busy weekend!. On Friday night a bunch of dental students and their wives went out for dinner at Sapporo. It is a Hibachi grill and it was so much fun! We had our lovely friend Maria come over to watch Austin so we could enjoy a little adult time. It is not very often that we all go out without the kids (okay there were a few newborns there). We had a great time so thanks to Brian Evans for planning the night.
What a cute couple :-)

Me and Amber got to sit next to eachother. She is awesome. I only had one pic and her eyes were closed. Sorry Amber!

The next day we took Austin to All About Kids Gym. It is this place that has so many things for kids to do. There are tumbling mats, a swimming pool, cheerleading, karate ect. They have a place just for toddlers and Austin was in heaven. He just ran around for about 2 hours having a blast. I think half the time was spent in the ball pit. Our little man loves cars and balls!

That night we went to Balloon Fest at Bowman Field. It was so much fun and Austin loved it. We bought Austin a book a little while ago that has a balloon in it and every time he turns to the page he points at it and laughs. When we got the festival he was very excited and was flapping his arms everywhere and pointing at the balloons. Don't kids make everything more fun?

This was the balloon race

The festival was a fundraiser for the children's hospital where I work (notice the balloon in the backround). Nothing better than having fun while supporting a good cause. Austin learned how to blow a whistle......

Happy Birthday Baby Boy!!

His first birthday cake. I had a "ball" themed party for Austin at Veterans Memorial Park. We had it on Saturday which turned out to be a very nice day. I was worried it might rain but the weather held out so all the kids could play at the park
The Mills brought this lovely 7 layer dip

He wasn't so sure about the cake at first

Then he dove in!

Daddy and Austin reading the very complicated instructions.
Austin showing me his new steering wheel

Looking happy in his new birthday present

Cruisin' the streets of Springview

Today is a very special day. One year ago today I gave birth to the greatest gift I could ever ask for. I am so thankful that the Lord saw fit to send Hans and I little Austin. This past year has been a whirlwind to say the least. It has brought the greatest joys and of course the struggles of having a new baby. When I first had Austin I was determined to go back to work. For those who know me well, know that I am a workaholic. Since I was 14 I have always had a job. I did end up going back to work after 12 weeks of maternity leave but after 2 months back on the job I could hardly bear being away from Austin. I am so thankful that I have been able to stay home with him as this past year has been amazing. Watching him learn new things makes me sooooo happy. I love that he can point to all his body parts and is now catching on to sign language. He is such a smarty pants! Can you tell I am a proud mama?? Happy Birthday Austin! Your mom and dad love you soooooooooooooo much!
