Roomie fun

Heather with a statue in Louisville hahaha

Well this past weekend my wonderful college roomies came to Louisville to pay me a visit. I thought that when I moved to Louisville no one was going to come to visit since it is so far away. I have been pleasantly surprised with my many visitors. It makes me feel close to home. Catherine (plus hubby Jon) and Heather came to the "Ville" and we sat and giggled for hours. It is fun to remember all the great times we had in college. Heather stayed the night and we had a great time checking out the Louisville sights. While I was at work Heather spent the day at the Slugger musuem and... as you can tell from the pics...found many interesting statues...she is hilarious. We went to the basketball game (which I have to admit was our first one) and Heather taught me all the rules. She knows EVERYTHING about basketball so it was fun going to the game. Thanks Heather for a great weekend. You are the best!

Baby Meyer

Wow it is amazing to me what a baby looks like at 12 weeks!! In this profile of Baby Meyer you can see the nose, mouth, eyes and chin. Sooo cute! His/her hand is up by the head. Today was one of the best days of my life. To see it's little heart beating really brought me to tears. Hans was smirkin the whole time. Love it!

Trip to Nashville

In the Opryland Hotel

The car of Elvis

This past long weekend we went to Nashville to see the sights with our good friends, the Dicksons. We didn't realize it was so close...only 2 1/2 hours away! When we got there we unloaded our things at the luxurious "Days Inn" (haha) and hit the road. Our first stop was the Opry Hills Mall. It is this gigantic mall with all sorts of shopping and themed restaurants like "Rainforest Cafe" and "the Aquarium". Hans and Jon's favorite though was a huge Tool Warehouse. Next we went to the Opryland Hotel to tour around. It is amazing!! It has 4 atriums fulls of plants, flowers and waterfalls. I felt like I was in a tropical rain forest. After we went to dinner in downtown Nashille at a place called Demos. I would highly recommend it for anyone that goes. That night we played some dice game called "Farkle" which I won by the way (I am not competitive at all....jk) and ate ice cream. Hans scarfed his down in less than 5 seconds and the rest of us had not even gotten half way done. That confirms Hans' name of "The Human Garbage Disposal". The next day we toured the Country Music Hall of Fame. It was really amazing. My favorite part was to see Elvis' car. It had a TV and an ice maker which was really unheard of back then. We had a great time and now Hans and I are going to save our pennies so we can go back and stay in the Opryland Hotel. Let us know if you want to come too!!

Hans and Mark cooking Christmas dinner

This year Hans and I went to Calgary for Christmas. We had such a great time!! On Christmas Eve my mom told me that we were having Spaghetti for dinner. Little did she know that spaghetti is my favorite meal...turns out it is hers too!! I think we are going to make this a new tradition in our family. We opened all our presents Christmas Eve (German style) so Hans would feel at home. Then we drove down to Medicine Hat to spend time with Mark's (my step-dad) family. We got to do some boxing day shopping and I got a new pair of cowboy boots...compliments of Alann. I got to see my B.F.F. Melanie and her boyfriend Mark and remember the "good ol' days"...like when we used to watch Charlotte's Web every single day. hahaha. For Christmas she gave me a picture of her and I when we were 4 years old on Santa's lap. What a treasure! Hans went skiing for the first time and he loved it...well he was a little frustrated in the morning but by the end of the day he was rockin it. We went to a ski hill in B.C. and were so happy to find out when we got there that they had just recieved a big dump of snow. The conditions were perfect!! By the end of the day I was making Mark go down some pretty tough slopes (hey I learned that from my brothers). We also went 4-Wheeling and riding my mom's horse at her ranch. It was so nice not having a T.V. for a week and a half. I did not miss it at all. There is so much to do on a ranch. Hans loved feeding the horses and taking my mom's two dogs for their morning walks. After this trip Hans said he wants to start running....I think it is from all the fresh air. Hans and I hope you all have a wonderful New Year!!

Me and my brothers at Churchill Downs

Sad face after our horses lost

Angie in the ice chest on Black Friday. We were getting delirious

All the girls on bowling night

Well this year the big Thanksgiving dinner was at my house. Both of my brothers and their wives came along with my frousin Angie (frousin means cousin + friend). My brother also brought his son Evan who is the sweetest little baby. We had two types of turkeys; a deep fried one and a baked one. Anyone out there who has not tried the deep fried turkey I would highly recommend it! Anyway I am proud to say I made my first Thanksgiving dinner and I am ready for more. Hans and I had a great time with my family here. We went to the horse races at Churchill Downs and Amanda had the best luck winning. We went bowling and I found out that I actually can bowl. Hans found me a 6 pound ball and I got my first strike ever. I guess the balls I have always used have been to heavy. Who knew?? Angie, Kira and I went shopping on black friday and we had a great time. We were out at 6am and we all bought Cricuts. It was a great day. My family loves playing games and so we played a game called "Things in a Box" almost every night. I dont think I have ever laughed that hard . We all had a great time and I am sad that everyone is gone. Please come and visit again soon!!

Fun in November

Kara and I at the snow ball

Suzy and I looking fierce

The red carpet at our YW night amd Bethany looking smokin'

Well it has been a busy couple of weeks. Last night Hans and I went to the annual "Snow Ball" at Louisville Slugger field. It is a black tie event to raise money for the NICU at the hospital I work at. I had a fun time getting all dolled up and ready to go out for a night on the town. We had a wonderful dinner of Steak and Salmon and got to sit with all my work friends. There was dancing an auction and plenty of beautiful Christmas trees. It was great. Last Sunday I had a friend from high school come to visit. We had a good time laughing about old high school memories. We had plenty to talk about. Then this past Wednesday we had our Young Women in Excellence night. We had an "Oscar night" to represent all the girls hard work. My friend, Bethany and I had a great time setting it up (which took 2.5 hours) and then laughed when it was over and the guys tore it down in 2 minutes. We thought the red carpet was a must!! I am excited because this week my family is coming into town for Thanksgiving. My first year cooking a turkey. Wish me luck!!
