Food for thought

Austin is such a funny little guy. He has me laughing all the time. Our new adventures include the wide world of eating. I have realized this is a very messy business. I usually have to wear an apron so my clothes dont get dirty. Food usually ends up on my clothes anyway, the table, all over Austin's face, his hands and anything he then touches. All I know is that he loves to eat! Does anyone know how to get your kids to eat fruit? Austin will eat peas, squash, sweet potatoes and beans with reckless abandon but if I put fruit in his mouth he looks at me as though I just stuck needles in his mouth (then he spits it all over). Suggestions anyone?

are you serious? usually it's the other way around. maybe try making your own baby food. E had a preference of texture vs. the store brand. I just steamed apples and pears and then pureed them in my cuisinart. Then put the puree in ice cube trays and freeze them. Then you can put all the cubes in a freezer bag and they keep for 3-4 months. You may find that he really likes fruits that way. I did peaches, apples, plums, nectarines, and pears. Good luck!

put the fruit on the spoon first and then cover it in the veggies, so he can't see the fruit. That always worked with Evan (but opposite problem).

Chelsea,
He may find it a bit tart. So I would suggest making some of your own with real fruit. There is some good recipes check it out!!

My kids have watched this video 10 times this morning. They are so excited about it.
We mixed the fruit in the rice cereal or oatmeal. Sadie didn't like it either. Kiss him for us!

Look at those big eyes, he is beautiful.. All I can say is be thankful Austin likes to eat. Our little Karlee is not a fan of eating, so thus she is still 17lbs at a year. Maybe one day. But seriously Chelsea... he is so darn cute!!!

So so cute! I would say you are a very lucky mom that your baby loves veggies! It was so fun having you over! We have to do it again soon!

Oh my gosh! He is SO cute! Definitely a little Palmer-boy with those beautiful big eyes. I also love his chubby cheeks. Sorry no insights on the fruit...A wise nurse named Chelsea once said at the cabin, "An apple a day keeps the consti...." well you probably get the idea. Maybe this reasoning will help him try out the fruit.

Delia wasn't too hip on the fruit either, except bananas! so I stocked up on any of the fruits that had bananas in them. She still won't eat it. I even try to give her pieces of pear, peaches, apples etc. nope just spits it out and she's 19 months!! Then again she doesn't particularly like to eat! Maybe try putting a little sugar in it to dull the tartness away..it's got to be the tartness because of the faces they make lol ;) good luck
