Happy Birthday Baby Boy!!

His first birthday cake. I had a "ball" themed party for Austin at Veterans Memorial Park. We had it on Saturday which turned out to be a very nice day. I was worried it might rain but the weather held out so all the kids could play at the park

Today is a very special day. One year ago today I gave birth to the greatest gift I could ever ask for. I am so thankful that the Lord saw fit to send Hans and I little Austin. This past year has been a whirlwind to say the least. It has brought the greatest joys and of course the struggles of having a new baby. When I first had Austin I was determined to go back to work. For those who know me well, know that I am a workaholic. Since I was 14 I have always had a job. I did end up going back to work after 12 weeks of maternity leave but after 2 months back on the job I could hardly bear being away from Austin. I am so thankful that I have been able to stay home with him as this past year has been amazing. Watching him learn new things makes me sooooo happy. I love that he can point to all his body parts and is now catching on to sign language. He is such a smarty pants! Can you tell I am a proud mama?? Happy Birthday Austin! Your mom and dad love you soooooooooooooo much!

Yard saleing and Austin Walking!

I love going to yard sales and now I have found a perfect partner in crime, my friend Stacey. We went this morning and got some really great deals. It is almost Austin's first birthday so I decided to go out and look for some presents for him. I scored!
I got 3 "Little People" sets, a walker thing with blocks, two books and a pair of gap jeans for $8. The bounce and spin zebra I got at once upon a child for $10 and he loves it! I love to spoil my baby for cheap (is that an oxymoron?)

My little man starting walking this past week. To get him on video I have to bribe him since he is obsessed with the camera. He is soooooooooooooooooooo cute!

These are a few of my favorite things...

I thought I should do a little post of Austin's favorite things so I will not forget what this silly boy was up to when he was 11 1/2 months old.

His favorite food:
-strawberries
-avocados
-watermelon
-Crispex
-Gerber puffs
-cheese
-yogurt
-cheese puffs
-Anything Hans and I happen to have on our plates... I mean anything! I don't know why but food tastes better when it comes from someone else's plate :-)

His favorite activities:
-swimming (he is taking lessons this month)
-taking a bath (I usually have to take him out because the water has gone cold and his fingers and toes are pruney)
-opening and closing doors
-smiling at strangers
-turning the TV on and off (and on and off...ect)
-swinging in swings (he cries when I take him out)
-having daddy come home (then he gives him a huge hug)
-opening the lids of everything....
-helping mom empty the dishwasher
-putting things in the garbage can (I love this one...)

Austin is almost walking and will take a few steps. He will also stand on his own for a little while. I can't believe my baby is almost a year. This little man really keeps me on my toes but I am loving every minute of it. I love to see him growing and developing. I can't wait to see what he is going to be up to next!
